When ethereum 2 is released?

Ethereum 2.0, also known as ETH2 or Serenity, is being released in multiple phases. The initial phase, called Phase 0 or the Beacon Chain, was launched on December 1, 2020. This phase introduces the proof-of-stake (PoS) mechanism and serves as the foundational infrastructure for Ethereum 2.0.

The subsequent phases, which include Phase 1 and Phase 2, are currently under development and expected to be rolled out gradually over the next few years. Phase 1 will introduce shard chains, allowing Ethereum to process multiple transactions concurrently, while Phase 2 will focus on enabling smart contracts on these shards.

It is important to note that the complete transition to Ethereum 2.0 will likely take a considerable amount of time, as it involves migrating the existing Ethereum network to the new architecture. Therefore, it may be several years before the entire Ethereum 2.0 upgrade is fully implemented.
