As of the time of writing, there are approximately 18.6 million bitcoins in circulation. However, the total supply of bitcoins is capped at 21 million, so there are around 2.4 million bitcoins left to be mined. It is important to note that the rate of bitcoin creation decreases over time through a process called halving, which occurs approximately every four years.
