The total supply of Ethereum is not capped like Bitcoin, which means there is no specific limit on the amount of Ethereum that can be mined. However, as of September 2021, there is a circulating supply of over 118 million Ether. Ethereum also has an inflationary issuance model where new Ethereum tokens are created through mining, but the rate of issuance has been reducing over time due to the implementation of various upgrades like Ethereum 2.0. Eventually, Ethereum 2.0 will transition to a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism, which will not rely on mining for validating transactions, potentially altering the issuance of new Ethereum.
