Zillow obtains its data from a variety of sources, including multiple listing services (MLS), public records, real estate brokers and agents, property owners, and other third-party data providers. Public records include information from government agencies, such as property tax records, building permits, and sales histories. Zillow also collects data from user-generated content, such as Zestimate® home values, property information submitted by sellers, and community discussions. Additionally, Zillow may supplement its data with demographic information from public sources, such as the U.S. Census Bureau.
